Minimally Invasive Surgery

Computer-Assisted Surgery with Knee Joint Replacement

Over the past 25 years, minimally invasive surgery has revolutionized many fields of medicine. Its key characteristic is that it uses specialized techniques and instrumentation that enable the physician to perform major surgery without a large incision. In this respect, MIS Knee Joint Replacement is indeed “minimally invasive,” requiring a smaller incision and causing less trauma to the soft tissues. Minimally invasive surgical techniques may offer benefits including less blood loss, a shorter hospital stay, and increased range of motion.

In addition, now there is even better news. Advance computer-assisted surgical monitoring helps Dr. Nichols, the surgeon, to precisely align your knee implant with computer imaging. The navigation system supplies 3-D imaging of your leg during surgery, which may result in more exact placement of the implants.

Today, knee replacement is one of the safest and most successful types of major surgery. But as good as results are, knee replacement is a major surgery, and as such, there are certain risks and expectations that must be recognized

You can schedule an appointment and have your knee evaluated and Dr. Nichols can explain in more detail the minimally invasive knee surgery for osteoarthritis of the knee.
